Cosmetics Book Box

My first fully custom laminated greyboard packaging. Continuing the interactive packaging trend, this was an excellent opportunity to develop a fun artwork theme presented on collectable, functional, and high quality packaging.

Inspired by story books, I was tasked with developing retainable packaging that could be used as a storage box when the products inside were used. The direction I went with was two greyboard structures that would be adhered together to resemble a book, complete with magnetic cover catch. Inside was a product blister tray, printed tray cover, and protective sleeve doubling as back panel packaging print space.

Cute artwork was developed for the printed lamination skins and factory prototypes were assessed by me until fitment and functionality was refined to my satisfaction.

It was important to be able to see the products inside when at retail, which meant allowing the cover to be able to open, being lightly held shut with a magnetic catch system embedded in the greyboard, hidden under the printed lamination.

By allowing the book to be opened, came the need to secure the products from falling out or being removed from the blister tray. Already needing important content on the back of the box, I designed a clear PET sleeve to secure the products with 5C printing on the back panel to display the needed content, without compromising the design of the box itself.

Finally, front packaging content that could be discarded after use was a printed removable label. The sleeve and label both allow the book box to focus on fun artwork without sacrificing the aesthetics for legal and retail requirements.
